Out of debt!!

Paid off my last Credit Card!! No more debt. Cars are paid for. All we have now is to tackle the house. I was thinking of refinancing it for 15 years to pay it off faster! Im so glad to be out of debt! Its like a huge burden lifted!

Congrats! Suggestion/question: would you not save more money by adding to your principle every month as opposed to doing a 15 year refi? Is your current loan set up to allow you to make those additional payments to the principle? If it is, I recommend you do that instead of a refi - unless you can get a much lower rate with your refi. A much lower rate! Consider the cost of doing the refi - most likely it will not be a free service from your lender, especially since you are going from a 30 to a 15, they have to make up some of the money they would be losing in interest. Traditionally, 30 year loans carry a lower interest rate than 15 year loans. Just something to consider.

I understand, and upon looking closer, your right. We have decided to just pay more on principle per month. Thanks for the advice. I knew that, but I think it was the excitement of being debt free!HAHA.

Don't confuse "debt free" with "saving money". Sometimes being debt free can cost you more money than simply paying off something at an accelerated rate.

Congrats on being debt free. Here is where Robert Kyosaki and I disagree. I dont mind having debt on income generating homes, but my own house will be paid in full as well. Its just extra security to know you always have a place paid for thats YOURS! Again,congrats!

I would agree with that. Especially in these troubled times. Having a house free and clear would be a huge burden lifted for sure!

Still feels great being debt free! Was able to purchase a newer car today at a killer deal, since the car market is flopping. Paid cash and smiled all the way home!
